How to Replace a Vertical Blind Carrier and Stem
Carriers are the small plastic units inside the headrail that hold each slat and rotate it when you tilt. The stem is the little hook the slat hangs from. When a stem snaps or a carrier's gear strips, that one slat dangles or won't turn. Replacing a carrier is a five-minute fix once you know the trick.

Remove the slat from the affected carrier. Then pop off the headrail end cap to expose the tilt rod and the row of carriers threaded onto it.
Identify the broken carrier — usually the one with a missing or cracked stem hook, or one that won't rotate with the others.
Step 2 — Slide off the old carrier
Carriers thread onto the square tilt rod in sequence, connected by spacer links. To reach a middle carrier you'll slide the ones beyond it toward the open end.
Note the orientation of the stem hook and how the spacer links connect before you pull the broken one off — the new one installs the same way.
Step 3 — Install the replacement
Thread the new carrier onto the tilt rod, reconnect the spacer links on both sides, and re-space all carriers evenly.
Replace the end cap, re-hang the slat, and test both tilt and traverse.
