Measure the exact length of your existing headrail end to end. Also note your stacking direction (which way the slats bunch), control side (left/right), and mount type (inside the window recess or outside/wall mount).
Count your slats and note their spacing — a replacement headrail should come with the correct number of carriers pre-installed for your width.
Step 2 — Remove the old headrail
Take all slats off the carriers first. Then release the headrail from its mounting brackets — most snap or slide out with a small tab you press at each bracket.
Leave the brackets on the wall if the new headrail uses the same bracket spacing; otherwise unscrew and reposition them.
Step 3 — Install the new headrail
Clip the new headrail into the brackets, confirm it's level, and test the traverse and tilt with no slats attached to make sure the mechanism runs smoothly.
Re-hang your slats onto the new carriers, connect the bottom chain, and cycle open/closed a few times.
