How to Remove and Rehang Vertical Blinds
Whether you're cleaning behind the blinds, painting the window frame, or doing a repair, you'll often need to take vertical blinds down and rehang them. Done in the right order, it's quick and stress-free. Here's the sequence.

Rotate the slats open (flat). One by one, unhook each vane from its carrier stem — tilt the top toward you and lift it off the hook.
Keep the slats in order and stacked flat; it makes rehanging faster and prevents creasing fabric vanes.
Step 2 — Take down the headrail
With the slats off, the headrail is light. Look for the release tab at each mounting bracket — press it and the headrail tips down and out.
For outside/wall mounts, you may simply lift the headrail off retaining hooks. Support it so it doesn't drop.
Step 3 — Rehang in reverse
Clip the headrail back into its brackets and confirm it's level. Test tilt and traverse with no slats attached.
Rotate all carriers to the open position, then hang each slat back onto its stem hook and reconnect the bottom chain. Cycle open/closed to confirm everything moves.
